What Is a Project? • A project is a temporary endeavor undertaken to create a unique product or service • Temporary means a definite beginning and end • Unique means different in some way from other products or services • A project is in contract with an operation, which is ongoing and repetitive

  3. Two Major Aspects of a Project • Management aspect • Plan, organize, and control the project • Technical Aspect • Achieve the product scope with qualified resources To be successful, the methodology to develop a project MUST encompass both.

  4. Overall Goals of “Blueprint for Success” • Produce a quality service and product • Control development time and expenditures • Increase your department’s experience and confidence in using the project management framework in service and product development
