  1. What is special about 351 Cleveland? The 351 Cleveland featured numerous advancements, particularly in the cylinder heads, that were based on the 429. The ports were massive, and so were the valves. The cast-in timing gear cover that stretches forward to the front of the engine distinguishes the 351C block.

  2. The Cleveland's enhanced breathing came from canted valves, which expanded on the valvetrain geometry presented on 1968 429. Both the intake & exhaust valves were tilted on 2 distinct planes, allowing for larger

  3. diameters, smoother port shifts, and more coolant flow between the valves. Forged steel connecting rods were used on both two- and four-barrel 351C engines. Both main bearing caps were wider than normal to accommodate four-bolt mains. The 351 H.O. in 1971 and 1972 Larger-diameter; hardened pushrods; threaded rocker studs guide plates; hardened; higher-rate valve springs; steel spring base; and hotter,single-groove valve keepers solid-lifter cam were among the valvetrain upgrades. These modifications, combined with Cleveland's ample ports & valves, gave the Boss 351 a mean streak. The 351C addressed an issue that had long plagued Ford engines: exhaust manifolds. Although these castings did not flow as well as the 427's long-tube manifolds, they were

  4. a significant improvement over the 289 & 390 manifolds. The ports and passages on the four-barrel 351 exhaust manifolds were larger than those on the two-barrel castings, but they both had 2.0-inch outlets. Boss 351 manifolds were the exception, with larger 2.25-inch outlets. A 351 Cleveland engine can be identified by its rectangular valve covers. 351 Windsor heads, like their 289/302 forefathers, have a slight angle at the front & rear of the valve covers.351c water pump is also built with long-lasting mechanics.
