  1. FORD C6 TORQUE CONVERTER INSTALLATION GUIDE REMOVING THE TRANSMISSION 1. Cut the cable connecting the negative battery. 2. Elevate the car. 3. Take off the transmission oil. Automatic transmission usually operates at 150–200°F. Avoid hot fluids and components. Before beginning the transmission removal, let the car a few hours to sufficiently cool. 4. Remove the driveshaft. 5. Disconnect the transmission from all of the following: ● transmission cooler lines ● vacuum hoses ● wire loom clamps ● electrical connectors ● linkage for the gear selector ● cables, wiring, or linkages for the throttle and everything else.

  2. 6. Take off the transmission fill tube and dipstick. 7. Take the starter out. 8. Fasteners for the flexplate-torque converter should be removed. Remove the appropriate dust or inspection cover first. Then slowly turn the crankshaft to reach each fastener. 9. Take away the cross member. 10. Disconnect the exhaust crossover pipe and any other exhaust parts that might prevent the transmission from being removed and lowered. 11. Remove all but one of the bolts from the transmission bell housing. Lower the transmission just a little bit to make access to the upper bell-housing bolts possible. 12. Make one last check to ensure that all flexplate-torque converter fasteners, as well as all mechanical, electrical, and fluid connections, have been removed before removing the last bell housing bolt. 13. Disconnect the engine and transmission. Unbolt the final bell housing screw. 14. Remove the torque converter from the bell housing and the transmission input shaft. INSTALLATION OF FORD C6 TORQUE CONVERTER 1. Raise to connect the ford c6 torque converter. 2. Place the engine transmission bolts in place and tighten them to the manufacturer's specifications. 3. Attach the flexplate and torque converter. A. Place the bell housing over the dowel pins in the engine.

Check the gearbox mount for damage and make any necessary repairs or replacements. 5. Put the drive shaft in place. For signs of severe wear, examine the drive shaft yoke. 6. Reattach the shifter linkage. Connect the shifter linkage to the transmission's shift arm. 7. Connect the manifold vacuum source and vacuum modulator. 8. Attach the kick-down control linkage and set it up per factory specifications. 9. Reconnect all remaining mechanical and electrical connections, including vacuum hoses, throttle linkage and cables, speedometer gear and cable, and any other items of a similar nature.
