  8. FEATURES RESOURCE FOLDER MAP VIEWER CONSEQUENTIAL PARAMETER GRAPH RESPONDER EMBEDDED ELEMENTS Map Viewer Each map includes visuals and population size. Six different maps are available in this 5-episode GameScape. Population Over the years, the population increases. The map also evolves to reflect changes in and around Sparksville. 9. FEATURES RESOURCE FOLDER MAP VIEWER CONSEQUENTIAL PARAMETER GRAPH RESPONDER EMBEDDED ELEMENTS Resource Folder This folder contains Digital Learning Objects (DLOs) with instructional text and graphics. Once presented, these DLOs are filed for future reference. Resource Folder The “New” tag marks unread documents in the folder. Digital Learning Object

  10. FEATURES RESOURCE FOLDER MAP VIEWER CONSEQUENTIAL PARAMETERGRAPH RESPONDER EMBEDDED ELEMENTS Consequential Parameter Graph The Consequential Parameter Graph (CPG) is a dynamic indicator reflecting the quality of each student decision according to the following parameters: Environmental Sustainability, Economic Health, and Social Support of Sparksville. Don’t let any of the any of the meters fall below the line! Environmental Balance Economic Balance Social Balance

  11. FEATURES RESOURCE FOLDER MAP VIEWER CONSEQUENTIAL PARAMETER GRAPH RESPONDER EMBEDDED ELEMENTS Responder Responders are interactive elements that allow learners to “speak” to GameScape characters and answer questions. Responses to these questions impact the Consequential Parameter Graph (icon in lower left corner). Responder

  12. FEATURES RESOURCE FOLDER MAP VIEWER CONSEQUENTIAL PARAMETER GRAPH RESPONDER EMBEDDED ELEMENTS Embedded Elements Learners can also interact with Embedded Elements such as email, notepads, books, letters, checklists, phones etc. Notepad Checklist Email This Element displays any notes the learner takes during the episode. This Element takes the learner to emails, which often require responses. This scored interactive Element requires learners to select choices from a predefined list.

  13. SIMAPP Every episode contains a simulation application, or “SimApp”, with three on-screen Input Controls. The goal of the game is to make choices that balance what’s best for the environment and the community. As in real life, there are no “right” or “wrong” answers; every unique decision has a different cause and effect. Learners can play the SimApp as many times as they like until - through trial and error - they achieve satisfactory results. Elapsed Time Indicator After learners press “Start”, the SimApp comes to life, and learners see how the ecosystem evolves over a 4-year period. Input Controls

  14. ASSESSMENTS EPISODE SCORE RESOURCES VIEWED REFLECTIONS SIMAPP BADGE SUBMIT ASSESSMENT SCORE REPORT The “Performance Summary” shows learners how they performed at the end of each episode. Learners then save these metrics to a PDF called the “Score Report”, which they email to their instructor. Score Report (for Instructors) Performance Summary (for Learners)

  15. ASSESSMENTS EPISODE SCORE RESOURCES VIEWED REFLECTIONS SIMAPP BADGE SUBMIT ASSESSMENT SCORE REPORT Performance Report - Episode Score The Episode Score summarizes the learner’s performance at the conclusion of each episode. This numeric score reflects how their decisions impacted the overall balance among the three parameters tracked by the Consequential Parameter Graph (CPG): Environmental, Economic, and Social.

  16. ASSESSMENTS EPISODE SCORE RESOURCES VIEWED REFLECTIONS SIMAPP BADGE SUBMIT ASSESSMENT SCORE REPORT Performance Report – Resources Viewed • Reflects the number of available Digital Learning Objects viewed by the learner. DLO Sample: Oil Spill Decline

  17. ASSESSMENTS EPISODE SCORE RESOURCES VIEWED REFLECTIONS SIMAPP BADGE SUBMIT ASSESSMENT SCORE REPORT Performance Report – SimApp Badge • This “Badge” reflects the learner’s performance in the SimApp Game.

  18. ASSESSMENTS EPISODE SCORE RESOURCES VIEWED REFLECTIONS SIMAPP BADGE SUBMIT ASSESSMENT SCORE REPORT Reflection Questions • At various times within each episode, learners are asked to respond to short reflection questions.

  19. ASSESSMENTS EPISODE SCORE RESOURCES VIEWED REFLECTIONS SIMAPP BADGE SUBMIT ASSESSMENT SCORE REPORT Submit Assessment Submitting Assessment Save Results PDF At the end of each episode, learners are prompted to save their results as a PDF. • Learners will save this “Score Report” PDF to a local file on their computer. Once this is complete, they can email this PDF to instructors for grading.

  20. ASSESSMENTS EPISODE SCORE RESOURCES VIEWED REFLECTIONS SIMAPP BADGE SUBMIT ASSESSMENT SCORE REPORT Instructor Score Report • Instructors will receive a “Score Report” such as the sample report below. (1 of 2)
