  2. Fabricate a Padded Full Calf Cuff for an AFO • Cut a strip of leather 2 1/2” wide and the length of the largest calf circumference + 2 1/2” 2 1/2” Largest Calf Circumference + 2 1/2”

  3. Fabricate a Padded Full Calf Cuff for an AFO • Turn the strap over and glue a piece of 1/8” soft foam on the unfinished side 1/8” foam

  4. Fabricate a Padded Full Calf Cuff for an AFO • Turn the strap over and glue a piece of 1/8” soft foam on the unfinished side • Measure in 2 ½” from the ends and draw lines 2 ½” 2 ½”

  5. Fabricate a Padded Full Calf Cuff for an AFO • Sand and bevel back foam along edges as shown ¼” ¾” ¼”

  6. Fabricate a Padded Full Calf Cuff for an AFO • Cut out pearl/cream cow strip as long as cuff and about 2” wider • Make sure that stretch runs along length Cuff length STRETCH Cuff width + 2”

  7. Fabricate a Padded Full Calf Cuff for an AFO • Glue up cow and foam side of cuff

  8. Fabricate a Padded Full Calf Cuff for an AFO • Stretch cowhide lengthwise

  9. Fabricate a Padded Full Calf Cuff for an AFO • Turn leather strip over, center, and adhere to cowhide strip

  10. Fabricate a Padded Full Calf Cuff for an AFO • Measure in 2 1/2 “ from each end and mark top & bottom edges of cuff • Cut cowhide at 45° angles as shown • Glue edges of leather strip within cut lines 2 ½” 2 ½”

  11. Fabricate a Padded Full Calf Cuff for an AFO • Fold and glue down cowhide over edges of cuff • Sew around perimeter of cuff, 3/16” from edges

  12. Fabricate a Padded Full Calf Cuff for an AFO • Trim away cowhide around perimeter of cuff • Trim folded-over cowhide 1/8” from stitching • Miter corners of cuff slightly

  13. Fabricate a Padded Full Calf Cuff for an AFO • Your cuff is now ready to attach to the calf band
