Overview of SSC • Created on August 4, 2011, SSC’s mission is to fundamentally transform how the Government of Canada manages its information technology (IT) infrastructure. • The Shared Services Canada Act established Shared Services Canada as a department and its mandate. • SSC reports to Parliament through the Minister of Public Works and Government Services and delivers mandated email, data centre and network services to 44 partner organizations in a consolidated and standardized manner. • SSC may provide certain optional technology related services to government organizations on a cost-recovery basis. • SSC is comprised of approximately 6700 employees from across 43 departments, including 57 specialized procurement professionals transferred from PWGSC, with a budget in excess of $1.7B

Procurement Breakdown I • Shared Services Canada’s procurement function faces the challenge of supporting lines of operations with varying demands • Currently, contracting to support telecommunications services and networks represents the largest number of contracts and the majority of total contract value • The implementation of the transformation initiatives will drastically change this picture

  7. Review of SSC Procurement Operating Model • Shared Services Canada engaged PricewaterhouseCoopers to conduct a review of its procurement function and develop a recommended target operating model. • The objectives of the review were to strengthen and streamline the delivery of procurement services to more effectively support the department’s mandate and transformation agenda.
