  4. www.doctorsforseva.youthforseva.org • Doctor-@-School Program The local doctors and non-medical volunteers take active responsibility for providing healthcare to the children at a local government school. Volunteer Team @School COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION is key to sustaining the program all year round. Child@School Doc@School

  5. www.doctorsforseva.youthforseva.org • Doctor-@-School Program Trimester I Trimester II Trimester III Volunteer: HEALTH AWARENESS AT SCHOOL, Build Rapport, Be a Definite Part of School’s Support System Volunteer: Pre-screening, Documenting, Assist Doctor in Any Way Possible Volunteer: Organizing Referrals, Folllow up on Treatments Volunteer: Health Awareness Talks, School Health Clubs, Interactive Activities with Kids Doctor: General Examination; Emergency cases Doctor: Referral Cases, Regular Consultation at School Doctor: Regular Consultation at the School

  8. www.doctorsforseva.youthforseva.org Doctor-at-School YOU, the Volunteer Team: • Interact with teachers, school contacts and parents • Preliminary Screening (Help the Doctor) • Get medicines to children, based on Doctor’s prescription • Careful and Regular Up-to-Date Documentation • (We will provide a record book for each child) • Note the results of the screening and Organize Referrals • Track and Follow up on Treatment and Medication • Deliver AwarenessTalks and Organize Interactive Projects for the Students based on Health • Ensure Compliance with Program Standards • Update DFS Team about Progress and any Issues (Only Anchor Volunteer)

  9. www.doctorsforseva.youthforseva.org Doctor-at-School PROGRAM STANDARDS: • Anchor Volunteer to be responsible for the coordination of planning, development, implementation and evaluation of the local school health program. • Determine the health status of all students. • Perform initial school entry review of student health records, immunization status, cumulative health record, emergency information, etc • Provide referral and follow-up of abnormal health screenings, emergency health issues, and acute or chronic health problems • Require child abuse reporting • Ensure 1 volunteer in each school is currently certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first aid. • Assist in the planning and training • Ensure written health emergency policies and protocols • Obtain parent permission in writing prior to invasive screening

  11. www.doctorsforseva.youthforseva.org Doctor-at-School CHECKLIST FOR INAUGURAL SESSION: • Does everyone understand the roles they will be playing inthe FIRST Trimester, i.e during screening? • Has the DFS FILE to be kept at the school been discussed? Is the file ready? • What day and time will it be convenient for the Doctor to come to the school? (Eg. Sat mornings, Wed 1-2pm) • Which volunteers will be with the doc when he is at the school? (If no volunteer can be found, the DFS network can provide a volunteer. Anchor volunteer will figure this out.) • Where will the Doctor be consulting at the school? (Private Room) • Is there anything the Doctor needs? (Weighing scale, Torch, etc.) How can these be arranged? • Has everyone exchanged phone numbers? Everyone should have the Anchor volunteer’s phone number.
