    6. Research Themes Summary Center for Advanced Materials University of Kentucky Berea Centre Morehead State The award will support synthesis and characterization equipment; 4 faculty lines at UK; support for students and outreach.

    7. Research Themes Summary Bioengineering Platforms University of Louisville University of Kentucky Focus in cellular and molecular signaling in real-time (w/ faculty expertise in vascular & orthopedic research). Grant will provide student support; equipment; and a HS teacher fellows program.

    8. Research Themes Summary KY Nano Network University of Louisville Synergize and link all the cleanrooms in the state (UofL, UK, Morehead, Murray). Develop a network (e.g., software and portals) to connect the research community. The award will also support new photolithography equipment and students.

    9. Research Themes Summary Ecological Genomics University of Kentucky Northern Kentucky Eastern Kentucky Provide next generation sequencing equipment, high-performance computing, and analysis software. Broad areas of science (microbial communities, plants, grasses, insects, animals … also statistics and computer science). New faculty hires at UK and student support.
