  2. Graduation Requirements • 4 Years English 9-12 • 3 Years Math - Including Algebra I • 2 Years Science - Biological & Physical • 3 Years Social Studies • 2 Years Physical Education (must pass test) • 1 Year either LOTE or VPA • Electives to reach 210 credits • Pass CAHSEE English & CAHSEE Math

  3. A-G Requirements • 2 Years Social Studies (Must include: World, US, Political Behavior) • 4 Years of English • 3 Years Math (Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II) • 2 Years Lab Science-Biology,Chemistry (3 rec) • 2 Years LOTE (3 recommended) • 1 Year Visual/Performing Art* • 1 Year Elective* *Make selections from the UC/CSU approved course list

  4. Planning Grades 9-12 • Students are enrolled in 6 courses grades 9-11, and 5 courses in grade 12 which in four years should exceed the 210 credits needed for graduation. • All students can complete A-G courses in 4 years • ESMS semester grades assist in 9th grade course placements – Finish your 8th grade year STRONG! • Students are expected to study for approximately 2 hours daily. • Freshmen do not need to take summer school prior to 9th grade in order to complete the A-G sequences of courses.

  9. PATHWAYS CONT. • Biomedical Pathway: • 4 year sequence of courses in Biomedical Sciences: • 9th: Principles of Biomedical Sciences • 10th: Human Body Systems • 11th: Medical Interventions • 12th: Capstone: Biomedical Innovations

  10. PATHWAYS CONT. • Arts, Media and Entertainment: • 4 years in a variety of VPA courses • This pathway has many options as long as students take a VPA choice each year and complete the capstone project in 12th grade.

  11. What’s Next • Tuesday, April 23th– Counselors meet with 8th grade students at ESMS in their Language Arts classes. • The counselors will return to ESMS May 3, 2013. Each 8th grade student enters requests into the computer if s/he has signed registration form.
