  2. Employee Service Awards • Today’s honorees are recognized for outstanding service and dedication:

  3. CorrectionsIn-Custody Security

  4. Bryan R. Holt – 20 Years • Bryan was born in New Castle, IN and graduated from New Castle Chrysler High. He moved to Orlando in 1985. Bryan attended Indiana University, Valencia and Polk Community Colleges. • Bryan was hired by Orange County in 1987 to work at the old Main Jail. • He was promoted to Corporal in 1990, Sergeant in 2000 and Lieutenant in 2002.

  5. Bryan Holt – 20 Years • Bryan recently became a Certified Jail Manager. • He has worked at most of the Corrections facilities including: Genesis, Phoenix, Whitcomb, Central Booking and Horizons. He is currently assigned to the Main Facility. • Bryan has two children: Michael, 10, and Phillip, 5. • In in spare time, Bryan works as an Orange County Deputy. • He also helps at the Community of Faith Church, and says that his children and the 4,000 inmates at the jail leave little time for hobbies. *

  7. Loretta Gean Olin - 20 Years • Gean was born in San Francisco and moved to Orlando in 1950. • She graduated from Evans High School and attended Valencia Community College. • She worked for the City of Orlando in a number of positions. • Gean joined Orange County in 1986 as a Fire Protection System Specialist in Fire Rescue.

Gean Olin – 20 Years • Gean has developed programs for processing and tracking permits, DRC reviews, lock box keys, pyrotechnics and retail sales of sparklers. • She assisted in the development of ordinances for Public Outdoor Assemblies, Block Parties, Tent Standards, Fire Department access and fire hydrants. • She is a member of the Florida Fire Marshal’s & Inspector’s Association; Florida Fire Chief’s Association and Miracle Team. • Gean was promoted to Assistant Manager for Plans Review in 1998, the first civilian and first female to hold a position that’s usually held by a certified firefighter. • She has overseen the following projects: Convention Center Phases 2 thru 5; Sea World; Shingle Creek; RDV Sportsplex, Stanton Energy Center; Hilton I-Drive, Hilton Ruby Lakes, Village of Imagine, Rosen Center and the Peabody Expansion.

Gean Olin – 20 Years • Gean has received three Unit Citations. • She has also earned a number of Bowling Awards: ~ 3 perfect games (300) ~ Member of Orlando Women’s Bowling Association Hall of Fame ~ Member of Orlando Women’s Bowling All City Team (15 years) ~ State Women’s Senior Champion for 2007 ~ Past Member of Ladies Professional Bowling Tour • Gean is also the co-founder of Mothers of Down Syndrome. • She is married to Bob Olin, Manager of the Building Division and they • have two sons: Darrell and Derrick. • When not bowling, Gean and Bob ride their Harley Electric Glide. • She also enjoys playing golf, and reading. *

  11. Gary W. Boldrey - 20 Years • Gary was born in Elmhurst, IL and grew up in Villa Park. • He graduated from Valencia Community College with a degree in Paramedic Service. • Gary was hired by Orange County as a Firefighter and Paramedic. • He also became an Orange County Deputy in 1993 and worked as a Flight Medic/Tactical Observer on the Chase One helicopter.

  12. Gary Boldrey – 20 Years • Gary earned the Sheriff’s Office Meritorious Service Medal and several other ribbons while serving with the unit. • In 2002, he joined the OCSO’s SWAT Team as a tactical medical officer, assisting with search warrants. • He was one of the original members of the FireStar Unit. • Gary also is a preceptor and is responsible for training new recruits and recurrent helicopter operations associated with EMS agencies.

  13. Gary Boldrey – 20 Years • Gary was named Firefighter of the Year in 2001. • He is married to Hannah and they have four children: Danielle, 19; Thomas 16; Cason and Savannah, both 14. • He and his wife love their ranch located just outside of Eustis, with their cats, dogs, horses, and goats. • Gary enjoys boating and camping. He says working with the Pathfinders keeps him busy. *

  14. Mark D. Harley 20 Years • Mark was born in Birmingham, England and moved to Pekin, IL in 1967. • He is named after his great-great uncle Mark Levesley, a Royal Grenadier and personal bodyguard to King Edward VII. • Mark worked for the Caterpillar Tractor Company, then graduated from Pekin Vocational School and worked as a carpenter and earned his Journeyman carpenter’s license. • Mark moved to Kissimmee and struck up a conversation with his next door neighbors, who were volunteer firefighters. Mark then became a volunteer firefighter for 5 years.

  15. Mark Harley – 20 Years • Mark graduated as an EMT from Valencia Community College and attended Mid-Florida Fire Academy where he became a state certified firefighter. He was hired by Orange County in 1987. • Mark has earned 2 Unit Citations, 3 Letters of Appreciation and a Letter of Commendation. • He was promoted to Engineer in 2004 and is now stationed at Station 55. • Mark met Maria, his wife of 12 years, in 1995 and they have one son: Cole Ryan, 8. • Mark has always enjoyed riding motorcycles taught his son to race motocross. Cole won first place in the 2007 Series ages 8 to 12 in ACE Motocross Track in Sanford. • Mark says he’s fortunate to be a member of Orange County Fire Rescue, where he has many great co-workers who are not only friends, but family. *

  17. Valerie Denise Curgil – 30 Years • Valerie was born in Montezuma, GA and moved to Central Florida when she was 9 months old. • She graduated from Apopka Memorial High School and received a Family Service Credential from Western Carolina University. • In 1975, Valerie was hired by Orange County to work as a Youth Recreation Assistant through the CETA Program. • In 1977, Valerie was promoted to Outreach Worker with Community Affairs; in 1980, she became a Case Worker with the Head Start Program and in 1996, she transferred to the Community Affairs Division as a Case Worker.

  18. Valerie Curgil – 30 Years • Valerie is a member of the Holden Heights Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). • In 2006, she received the Most Valuable Team Assistant Award from Boone High School. • Valerie is very active in her community. She is the Secretary of the Black History Committee, serves on the Holden Heights Front Porch Revitalization Council and is a member of the Ward Chapel A.M.E. in Winter Park. • In her spare time, Valerie designs jewelry, sews and decorates her home. • She is the designated chauffeur for her nephews and niece to all their cheerleader practices, basketball games and serves as an all around “go-fer.” • Valerie has been told that she is the greatest auntie in the world. *

  20. Lawrence Christopher Simoneaux 20 Years • Chris was born in Donaldson, LA where he graduated from Donaldson High School. • He moved to Central Florida in 1971. • Chris was hired in 1987 to work in Roads and Drainage as a Foreman III over the Paving Crew. • Chris was promoted to Trades Foreman, Contract Administrator and Contracts Supervisor in 2000.

  21. Chris Simoneaux – 20 Years • Chris also helped with the Hurricane Andrew Relief Effort in Coral Gables. • He has been married to Frances, who works at Cooperative Extension, for 13 years and he has 4 step-children and 3 step-grandchildren. • Chris enjoys hunting, fishing, motorcycle riding, and an occasional round of golf. • He is an avid fund raiser for Great Oaks Village throughout the year. *

  22. John W. Parker - 35 Years • John was born in Philadelphia, PA, graduated from Murrell Dobbins Technical High School and recently obtained an Associate’s Degree in Accounting. • He served 4 years in the US Air Force before moving to Florida. • John was hired by Orange County in 1972 to work at the the Roads and Bridge Department. • John has also worked with the cement and paving crew.

  23. John Parker – 35 Years • John has been promoted to Maintenance Person I, II; Motor Vehicle Operator I, and II; and Equipment Operator III. • He is one of the original members of the Uniform Committee and has been Assistant Union Steward for 2.5 years. • John has been married to Mattie for 32 years and they have four children: Michael, Rosalyn, Megan, and Isaiah. • He is very proud of his three grandchildren: MJ, Kamryn and Jordan. • His hobbies include: Reading, gardening and sports. • John volunteers a great deal of time at his church, Macedonia Missionary Baptist in Eatonville. *
