  2. Today’s Presentation • Project Status Update • New CWDs created since October 2011 • CWDs in progress • CWD Implementation Strategy • Communications and Training

  3. Project Status Update • Now total of 310 CWDs available on Library; • Team of 5 FTEs dedicated to CWD development; • Involvement of functional authority in the development and validation, where possible; • Majority of CWDs have not yet been broadly implemented; • New Classification Business Process will rely heavily on CWDs.

  4. CWDs published since October 2011 • CR-03,04 in HR; • CS-02, 03 in Help Desk; • EG; • EL; • EN-ENG; • GL-COI, -MAN, -MPS, -PCF, -WOW; • GS-BUS, -FOS, -STS; • PG.

  5. CWDs in progress • GL-MAM; • AS in Mil Compensation; • EC and CR in Library; • AS (various types of Admin Officers and Assistants); • AS in Records Management; • GL-VHE; • HP; • FI; • GT; • DD.

  6. CWD Implementation Strategy • CWD mandatory wherever applicable; • Phased-in approach, implementing a few CWDs at a time; • Systematic jobbing process, conducted by regional HR and coordinated by DCCO; • Managers required to validate coincidence of duties, with guidance from ClassO; • Planning to pilot the approach with GL-PIPs, followed with various GL and GS sub-groups.

  7. CWD Implementation Strategy (cont’d) • Direction coming from DM and CDS; • Limit classification of unique WDs: • Is there a suitable CWD? Must use it. • If no CWD, is there an existing classified WD that can be applied in the meantime? • If neither CWD nor other classified WD available, can submit a unique WD.

  8. Communications • Memo from DM & CDS; • Q&As for managers and employees; • Detailed instructions for HR staff; • Collective Work Descriptions Guide to be published in November; • All information available on new HR Portal.

  9. Joint Learning on CWDs • Two meetings of joint working group; • Agreed on a Learning Framework: • Classroom training + online; • Demystify work descriptions and the classification process; • Manage expectations; • Clarify management accountabilities vs employee rights. • DCCO working with DLTPD to design course.
