  2. Pledges for our Community Garden • To abide by the rights and responsibilities of other users of the garden and of the committee members • If a dispute arises to resolve the grievance directly with the other party – if the dispute cannot be resolved by a direct approach a member of the management committee will be called on to mediate between the affected parties

  3. To have something planted in my plot within 4 weeks of being allocated a plot. • To keep weeds to a minimum as well as maintaining the areas adjacent to the plot. • To dispose of all organic matter in the compost bin and non-organics in the garbage bin

  4. To pay an annual fee of $5 per sq m to assist in covering the expenses of the community garden. If I do not pay the fees at acceptance of the agreement as set out by the committee, I forfeit my right to a garden plot.

  5. To donate 2 hours of my time each month to assist in general site maintenance • To return any loaned tools after use to a designated storage area. • To be always aware of the safety of others and comply with Occupational Health and Safety regulations.

  6. Occupational Health & Safety • Wear strong gloves and a hat • Wear strong boots / shoes • Be aware that the banks are steep and you can fall. • Beware of splinters in wood – wear gloves • Take care with tools . “Make sure no one is behind you if you swing a mattock!” • Insects, ants, spiders..

  7. To never pick other people’s crops unless I have written permission to do so. • To keep my plot tidy and surrounding areas free from litter and remove trash from the site. • To only use biological agents for pest and weed control as approved by the management committee. • To use only hand watering from the water tank or from potable(household) water

  8. Family members or friends are welcome to the garden site although children must be supervised at all times by a responsible adult. • No pets should be brought into the garden. • The property is a non-smoking area. • Alcohol should not be consumed on the property unless there has been prior agreement with the management committee

  9. Our water is a very precious resource.. Watering should be done by hand, using the plastic watering cans – kept near the sign-in table. PLEASE use the rain water from the tank at the end of the garden. Please turn off tap carefully after use!

  10. The person responsible for the plot will be at least 18 years of age. • Following my acceptance of a plot I will attend an induction session. • Any accident or injury must be recorded in the incident report book.

  11. First aid • There is a first aid kit on the shelf of the sign-in desk • Please note any injuries in the accident book and also any items you have used from the first-aid kit so we can replace them

  12. I will complete the attendance/maintenance register on entering and leaving the garden • I understand that a failure to abide by the rules will result in the forfeiture of my plot after one week of notification in writing

  13. I agree to indemnify the committee of Werribee Environmental Community Park Inc and the management and staff of Mambourin Enterprises from any claim against loss, damage or injury on my behalf

  19. Getting in to the Walls Road gate • We have a combination padlock on the gate:

  20. The combination!! • The padlock combination code is : • 10201 • The numbers must line up next to the raised indicator

  21. Locking up! • Last to leave, please lock the chain together with the padlock and revolve the numbers!

  22. Shed The combination lock for the shed is the same code as the gate! Please replace tools and ensure that you lock the shed and turn the combinations when you go.

  23. Glasshouse We are still planning to glaze the glasshouse .. Hopefully ready fairly soon !

  24. Opening times : 7 am till 6 pm • Remember : there are NO toilets on site! • BYO drink bottle + hat + gardening tools + gloves + strong shoes • It will be your personal responsibility to: • Sign and date the “In Book” – located on a small table under the Ison House Verandah. • Add comments where necessary.
