  8. Comic strip activity • You will complete a comic strip activity in partners. Pick one chapter and create a visual of that chapter with at least one quote and page number in every box (6 boxes total). Answer the questions on a separate paper: • 1. Identify 1 external and 1 internal conflict. Explain why these conflicts are important. Use a page reference/quote for each. • 2. Give a detailed summary of the chapter • 3. Where/when does this chapter take place? • 4. What is the relationship between Tim and Sam like? • 5. What is the progress of the war in this chapter? • 6. What step in the plot are we currently in?

  9. 12/5 • Open up your novel to p. 112 and take out a piece of paper! You will be completing the vocab mini lesson! • In your reading groups, one reader at a time facing each other you will read 112-127

Vocab review/group challenge • In your reading groups create 1 sentence for each word using the word correctly (10 total sentences) • Choose one person to read the sentence aloud, one person will give the definition, one person the spelling and one the part of speech • 20 mins • Vocab Quiz 12/12

  14. Advertisement Project • Work in your reading groups to create an advertisement for your guided reading book. This ad must include: • (3) Critic Reviews (with textual evidence) • Summary (includes: conflicts, setting, mood) • Illustrations • Star rating • 3 persuasive appeals • Students will present these advertisements to the class without giving away any plot spoilers! • 30mins

  15. Final diary project due 12/10-12/11 • You need: • All three diary entries plus revisions • Three works cited pages • 9 total in-text citations • A neat and illustrated cover • Everything needs to be put together either stapled or in a folder or bound in some way • Extra Credit: Maps, illustrations, letters, extra writing
