  3. COMMONLY mistaken: Sit Vs. Set • Sit usually means “to assume or to be in an upright position” • Set usually means “to put , to place something” • Infinitive Present Past Past Participle • Sit (to rest) ( is) sitting sat (have) sat • Set (to put) (is) setting set (have) set

  4. Commonly Mistaken: Rise and Raise • Rise means “to go up” • Raise means “to force something to move upward” • Infinitive Present Past Past Participle • Rise (to go up) (is)rising rose (have)risen • Raise (to force up (is) raising raised (have)raise • or be forced up)
