  1. BLOG: Timeless Issues Busting the Common Social Work Myths for You! Though social work is a noble job, there are several social work myths associated with the social workers as well as the job. Some people in this fast-growing era of technology also havenumerous misconceptions about social work without understanding the sector correctly. People need to understand the sector before trusting the myths buzzing around social work since ages. Most of the misconceptions sound ridiculous about social workers and this domain. Following are a few myths related to social work: All you need to have, to be a social worker is a kind heart Having a good heart is great for everyone out there, but to be a social worker, it is not all that isrequired. Social workers need much more than just a kind heart, such as degree, professional training to get through the day. An individual needs bachelor’s degree, masters or doctoral degree as per the position in the organization. Not anyone can be a social worker; one needs to earn the degree to become a social worker with proper qualification. So, this was one of the most common social work myths that people still believe. Social workers are poorly paid It is a misconception that the people employed in the social work sector are not paid well, but in reality, the salaries of social work professionals are comparable with other public sector professionals. The senior-level social workers such as service managers, directors are handsomely paid, and maybe even better than other public sectors. The trainee social workers are also paid well in the reputed organizations which is sometimes way better than many other sectors. The social workers interfere in other people’s life The main aim of social workers is to enhance the quality of living amongst the people in different regions. They respect the people and the families they associate with during the project. Maintaining a good bond with the people you are associated with is not interfering in their lives. They try to assist, guide or influence their lives to take them towards a better future, which is probably entirely the opposite of interference. You have to leave your feelings to be a social worker Although social workers are dedicated to the people they serve, they do have their own family to take care of. They do have feelings and responsibility towards their families, along with professional commitments. One does not have to leave their family or their relations to be a social worker. They think creatively to better other peoples’ lives and encourage people to grow, that does not mean they leave their responsibility.

  2. BLOG: Timeless Issues It is a risky job Many people have a misconception that jobs in the social work sector are dangerous; social workers often have to deal with people from different backgrounds while on the job. Although social workers sometimes have to face some trouble in their fieldwork, it is not always the case. Their organizations do the risk assessment of those regions before sending in their employees. Therefore, not much risk is associated with this job. Well, these were some of the common social work myths that people should stop believing and spreading. Location: B5018, 5018 Jardin, Laguna Woods, CA 92637, USA
