  1. Bellwork • Get out • Your ILL • a Pen or Pencil (P/P) • Label the next activity “Save Fred” • Make a list of lab rules / procedures

  2. SAVE FRED!!

  3. Poor Fred! He was sailing along on a boat one day (plastic cup)…

  4. …when a strong wind blew it upside down!

  5. Fred (gummy worm) ended up on top of the upside-down boat!

  6. Unfortunately for Fred, his life preserver (gummy life saver) is still trapped under the boat!!

  7. Your job is to place the life preserver firmly around Fred’s body, but you must obey three rules: • 1. Fred may not fall into the “sea” (onto the table) more than one time; if he does, Fred “drowns.” • 2. You may not injure him in any way. • 3. You may use only the four paper clips to move Fred, the boat, and the life preserver. You may not touch anything except the paper clips.

  8. Lab Set Up

  9. Actions • 1. Begin planning your lab using your lab report template. • 2. Complete: purpose, research, hypothesis, and inference (be sure to use detail). • 3. Once you have those sections finished, you may begin attempting to “save Fred!”. • 4. Complete your lab and lab report. • 5. Turn in completed lab report to teacher.
