Objectives of a GDSN User Forum • Raise awareness of the business value of the GDSN • Value to local users • The need of global users for data synchronisation In region • Explain the “value” of GDSN to both types of users • Help the early adopters get started • Showcase best practices • Drive implementation of GDSN • Identify challenges and opportunities • Engage region in standards development process • Get users active in user forum • Facilitate knowledge and best practices sharing • Get users involved in the Forum from multi-national • Invitation from multi-nationals for local users to participate • Education seminars, pilots • Development and sharing training tools with MOs • Kits: Education, marketing, support, etc.

Momentum Is Important … • Latin America and MEMA: A GDSN User Forum will help channel the positive responses to the GDSN “Call to Action” in the Latin American and MEMA GS1 Forums • Asia Pacific: A GDSN User Group will help channel the positive responses to the GDSN “Call to Action” at the ECR Asia conference

Points for Discussion • User Forum vs. User Group • The regional forums feed into the global User Group • Business Requirements • Uniqueness of the Latin America supply chain • Global Registry support • Business messages and standards support • Develop education workshop • Consider pilot implementation objectives and plans • Proof of Concept around the use of the GDSN and Global Registry • Use of publication and subscription model • Assess attribute requirements (target market specific, field length support, etc.) • Language considerations • Development of “how to” tutorials / kits: • What’s available today • Current projects functionality • How to engage in Item and Party sync. going on today • Explain lessons learned • Show the value of GDSN in the region to locals users (SMEs) • The role of the MO and data pools in educating the local community

Education Workshop • Focus on a “workshop” approach and not a one-way dialogue / presentation • Similar to the “ GMA Launchpad” approach, but focus on the needs of LA users (lack of computers, technology challenges, manual process etc.) • Invite users to bring their use case and show the process to get it implemented • Provide take-ways for the local users • Develop objectives • Provide basic education and update • Overview of current GDSN standards activities • Develop workshop outline • Basic outline exists in draft format • Identify speakers • Internal • External • Identify date and location • Promote to user community • Execute • Volunteers Giovanni, Peter, Stuart, Gabriel, Monica, Gina • Start with a week-at-a glance

Next Steps • Nov. 2005 - Develop short term objectives for LA User Forum • Dec 2005 - Identify planning committee members for Launch session • Dec 2005 - Conduct a planning committee conference call/web seminar • Dec 2005 - Identify nominees for global advisory group • Retailers, Suppliers, MOs • Help local community with Business Cases, lessons learned, etc. • Jan 2005 - Identify pilot opportunities • Participants, budgets, model, requirements and specifications • Q1 2006 - Schedule a GDSN User Forum launch session • Officially launch GDSN in Latin America • Physical meeting: 2 or 3 days • Early March (Bogota?) • Include trading partners, data pools, member organizations & service providers • Identify LA nominees for Voting Membership in Global User Group: Jan - Feb 2005 • Q1 – Q3 2006 - Execute pilots • Q4 2006 - Present pilot results • Asia: ECR Asia, Malaysia November 2006 • Latin America and MEMA locations to be announced
