OHSU School of Nursingwww.ohsu.edu/son Highlighting Ashland Faculty ~ March 2013 Practice ~ 1996-2012: Retired August 2012 after 28 years of military service.He served as a nurse officer in the Army Reserves, Active Army, and the Oregon Army National Guard in the position of Colonel. He was deployed in support of Operation Desert Storm. Most recently, he was appointed Deputy Commander of the State of Oregon by the Oregon State Surgeon and commanding officer over the entire States’ nurse officers; Dr. Daniels was the commander of officers in the State Medical Teaching Team. This team was responsible for the entire state's medical education. In addition, this selected team was immediately activated for state and national medical emergencies and disasters. Associate Professor Rick Daniels, R.N., COL (ret.), Ph.D. received his BSN from the University of Oregon School of Nursing, his MSN from the University of San Diego, and his PhD in Nursing from the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Daniels has been an associate professor for the School of Nursing, Ashland campus, since 1988. His primary responsibilities have been teaching theory and clinical courses at the undergraduate level, performing research with a wellness focus, and serving on campus-wide committees. He currently teaches a variety of acute care didactic nursing courses, such as pathophysiology, adult health and illness, and pharmacology. In addition, Dr.Daniels has spoken nationally, published textbooks and written professional articles during his career.
