  1. Xplo (beta) 04/11/09 Sébastien Griffon Plant architecture « eXploration »

  2. 1 - Objectives Xplo born of an AMAP botanist brainstorming (March 2008) : What tools to help : • Building • Editing • Viewing • Seek • Exporting Architectural plant data ?

  3. 2 – Conception Applications ArchiTree (Multi-scale Topological Graph) Data Structure GLOUPS Model 3D View Context Files (mtg, gtds, lig …) Browser View Table View Panel 1 Panel 2 Panel 3 Xplo Topological Filter Attribute Filter Geometrical editor Topological Editor Synchronisation View Model Controlers

  4. 2 – Conception : ArchiTree Fruit5 > Plant1 Internode4 > Fruit2 Axis2 + / Axis1 Internode3 > / > / Internode1 Internode2 > Internode1 Length : 5.3 Diameter : 1.6 Length : 10.7 Plant : Scale 1 Axis : Scale 2 Internode : Scale 3 Fruit : Scale 3

  5. 3 – Functionality: Formats

  6. 3 – Functionality: Geometry

  7. 4 – Applications : GLOUPS • GLOUPS is an implementation of the process-based model GREENLAB (GL1 and only Corner architecture). The simulator use the multi-scale tree structure of XPLO Feng Lu, S. Griffon and P. De Reffye

  8. 3 – Applications : GLOUPS

  9. 4 – Applications : GLOUPS • GLOUPS can read data coming from Simeo, compute plants for each density class and export to SLE (3D landscape viewer) 30 x 30 + rand 5cm 30 x 60 + rand 5cm 60 x 60 + rand 5cm

  10. 4 – Applications : GLOUPS • Xplo can export the computed plant to OBJ file for better rendering Rendu avec AOI : Ambiant occlusion Normal mapping Soft shadow

  11. 4 - Xplo 1.0 ? • First version of Xplo should be available for the end of 2009. • Developped in Java (multi-platform), under LGPL licence. • Functionalities to enhance or to add : • Time management. • Plug-in architecture for Groovy script. • Improve geometry builder and editor • Improve topology builder • Add more plant modelisation/simulation module.

  12. Simeo For the scene level, a similar software is developped in AMAP by F. De Coligny
