  2. Todays Solar Eclipse • Why is there so much interest in today’s eclipse? • 1st coast to coast in the US in 99 years • More of the sun will be covered in DFW than 1979 • Best eclipse for DFW area since 1970!

  3. So … What is a Solar Eclipse? • NASA defines an eclipse as … An event in which the moon passes between the sun and Earth and blocks all or part of the sun for up to about three hours, from beginning to end, as viewed from a given location. (1)

  5. Todays Solar Eclipse • With the moon eclipsing the sun we will experience a short temperature drop! • A danger does exists when observing the eclipse! • Permanent eye damage could occur! • ONLY USE PROTECTIVE EYEWARE! • Shading your eyes or sunglasses of any brand WILL NOT WORK!

  6. Today’s Solar Eclipse • Begins at 11:39am • Maximum will be at 1:09pm • Ends at 2:38pm

  7. The next Solar Eclipse For the Dallas/Fort Worth area • October 14th 2023 at 11:53am 90% • But will not Be seen easily In the eastern US.
