This article explores the history, functions, achievements, challenges, and future prospects of the Indian Atomic Energy Commission, highlighting its significance in shaping India's nuclear energy landscape. Historical Background: The inception of the Indian Atomic Energy Commission can be traced back to India's visionary nuclear program initiated in the 1940s. India's first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, recognized the potential of nuclear energy for peaceful applications and established the AEC to spearhead nuclear research and development.
