The kids enjoyed making cards, writing letters and preparing their packages! • Friday, Dec. 13 – 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Christmas Around the World - volunteers needed! • Wednesday, Dec. 18 – Polar Express Day – wear your favorite pajamas to school! • Thursday, Dec. 19 – 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. - Kindergarten Christmas Party – volunteers needed! • Friday, Dec. 20 Jeans & Christmas Shirt Day – ½ day - dismissal at 12:30 • Christmas Holidays – Dec. 23 – Jan. 3 – School resumes – Monday, Jan. 6 What We’re Learning • ELA – Unit 4 Animals – Key Skills • Review letters Ff – letter and sound recognition • Reading Story – Animal Babies ABC • Discuss animals and pets, ways to keep animals healthy, how baby • animals change and grow, animal habitats • Recognize that words are separated by spaces • Listen and respond to fiction, informational text, photo essay and folk • tale • Sequence events and retell • Match the letter /f/ to the sound /f/, and blend words with f • Read simple one syllable words • Write Ff • Write sentences • Math – Unit 3 – Key Skills • Count to 50 (by ones and tens) • Count forward beginning from a given number within the number • sequence (0-20) • Write numerals from 0 – 20 • Understand that each successive number names refers to a quantity • that is one larger • Classify and count small sets of objects and sort the categories by • count • Identify the number of objects in one group as greater than, less than, • or equal to a number of objects in another group • Identify the numerals for recording the number of objects in a given • set (0 – 20) • Describe measurable attributes of objects such as length and weight • Describe several measurable attributes of a single object • Social Studies/Science • Animals/Christmas Around the World Student of the Week Kaitlyn Homework • Review sight words each night! • Read a book each night! • Reading: Read “Playbook to your parent. • Writing: Trace and complete the sentence “it is a ______.” Draw a picture to match the writing. • Handwriting: Ff page • Math: 18 & 19 pages, Circle the numeral pages. • Language: Phonics: /f/ pages 107 & 112.
