  1. Immersion Heater Means Reliable Supply of Hot Water An immersion heater is an electric water heater which is installed in tanks or any other container to heat the liquid present. This is done by the presence of electric resistors which heats up when current passes through it. Homes that have these devices do not have to suffer in freezing temperature if the boiler breaks down. They have their own power supply and can be switched on and off according to your own convenience. Immersion heaters can either be used as a property's primary water heater, or they can be utilised as a backup water heaters for combi boilers. Need for immersion heaters They are used either as primary or secondary source of heating water in a household. Homes or offices with a centralised heating system or hot water boiler keep them as secondary source, most probably to come in handy when the boiler breaks down. They are used as primary source of heating water in households where there is no provision for centralized heating system or boiler. This type of heating devices are generally found in rented homes or offices. Advantages of immersion heaters Sophisticated devices with state of the art features come with thermostat setting. This enhances safety and reduces energy bills as you can set them to a temperature at which they will automatically turn off. These devices remain isolated from your hot water boiler. This ensures that you still get hot H2O in case of your boiler breaking down. Modern heating devices with advanced features come with well-insulated jacket. This can keep your water hot for an extended period of time after it is switched off. Time-of-use tariff customers can set timers so their immersion heater switches on during cheaper off-peak hours. These devices are extremely easy to handle and operate. You just immerse them in the liquid that needs heating and switch on the power. You can manually switch off the power once the water boils or set the temperature at which the heater will shut down on its own. Disadvantages of immersion heaters Heaters consume a lot of energy. Prepare yourself for heavy electricity bills if you are a frequent user. Heating a bucket of water for your shower in a cold January morning can cost you double in electricity bills. Unless your heater has a thermostat control, you need to be manually present to switch it off.
