  2. Books are one of my greatest pleasures lonely. They are right up there with ice on a very hot day and a glass of hot mulled wine by a roaring fire, Kindle Ritual while the blizzard howls without. And let me the joy of inhaling the scent of jasmine in the spring and listening to music nostalgic old password.

  3. I long ago realized that the act of reading is a very sensual experience for me, and once I saw that, I became aware of the little rituals that I had. Just like caressing the smooth cover of a paperback book and enjoy the feeling of the stiffness of a bound copy. Then open the book and lift it to my nose to get a good whiff of the paper and the print on the page to get. Of course I can not start reading until I a fan of the page for more olfactory pleasure and when I go to the page where I start reading, I first smooth it out with my fingers, savoring the texture of the paper.

  4. So imagine my reaction when I first heard of electronic books. Shocked is how I would describe. I could not understand how anyone could even entertain the idea. I knew that reading books was so much more than just words strung together for you, so how can someone maybe some joy to get such a device? Absolute madness, I concluded.

  5. Well, now I eat my words. Rather, they can be read on a small screen. My well-meaning son bought me a Kindle a few months ago. I feigned gratitude, but gave it a try, because he was so pleased with himself. It was very different, I had my usual little rituals to see and I would not be honest if I did not say that it took me a while to get into. But once I am comfortable with all the features, I found myself really enjoying.

  6. My absolute favorite thing is able to shop for books and using the machine to buy. Instant gratification! There are thousands of books available and more than one million free out-of-copyright books.
