TFF@BXL 26-28 March 2012 Brussels, Belgium DRAFT - NOT FOR DISTRIBUTION
Join us to change the world… DRAFT - NOT FOR DISTRIBUTION
TFF@BXL is brought to you by these awesome organizations… DRAFT - NOT FOR DISTRIBUTION
What is TFF? Thought for Food (TFF) is a global movement that challenges university students to come up with bold ideas to reinvent our food production and consumption systems for 9 billion people. Last year, 50 students at 10 leading universities across Europe let their imaginations run wild and came up with attention-grabbing ways to raise awareness about food security in their local communities. Using a variety of online social platforms, they have now built a global following of mentors and cheerleaders, who continue to provide input, support and a giant megaphone for promoting the best ideas to the world. And… in just a few weeks, TFF2012 launches!! This year we go global and will involve the best and brightest students at universities around the world. DRAFT - NOT FOR DISTRIBUTION
TFF@BXL We are now going to bring ~60 TFFers and supporters from around the world to meet in person. From a unique location at the top of the famous Atomium landmark in Brussels, we will have the chance to hear from inspirational role models. We will network, motivate and energize each other, and develop creative action plans to build a sustainable and just food future. We will also have the opportunity attend the prestigious Forum for the Future of Agriculture, Europe’s most important policy conference tackling challenges facing food production and the environment. We’ll be here! DRAFT - NOT FOR DISTRIBUTION
This is what we’ll get to do DRAFT - NOT FOR DISTRIBUTION
Here’s what we have planned DRAFT - NOT FOR DISTRIBUTION
There’s a little bit of homework • Let’s get to know each other! We will share photos & bios of ourselves on a FB platform so we recognize each other when we meet • Let’s find our role models! We will identify inspirational persons/ organizations that are doing exciting things for food production & consumption, and bring a picture of this person or organization with us all pictures will be displayed on a large “Inspiration Wall” throughout the event • Recommended advanced reading: • The End of Food, Paul Roberts • Just Food, James E. McWilliams • An Edible History of Humanity, Tom Standage • Lester Brown, DRAFT - NOT FOR DISTRIBUTION

Brainstorming new ideas • Creative Hubs for Policy, Business and Buzz convened by eminent leaders in each field • Each Hub will have 3 groups of 5 people (total of 9 groups) • Equipped with creative tools and methods, each group will produce one breakthrough idea, so that in the end we will get: • 3x POLICY ideas • 3x BUSINESS ideas • 3x BUZZ ideas • Each group will present their best idea in plenary in a fun and memorable way • The breakthrough ideas will be compiled into a “playbook” for TFFers around the world to use and be inspired from DRAFT - NOT FOR DISTRIBUTION

Then we will make personal commitments for action • Each TFF@BXL participant will reflect on the things we learned throughout the day (from networking and the keynote and creative sessions) • On sheets of paper, we will commit to undertake a concrete action in 2012 to address food security • We will share our commitments in plenary and display on wall for all to see • Twitter followers can also share their commitments using #tffpledge DRAFT - NOT FOR DISTRIBUTION
And the fun continues… • TFF will host a cultural dinner at KOKOB, a traditional Ethiopian restaurant • Each table will have cards containing provocative questions to spark thoughtful conversations • We all know that good food and wine will fuel new thinking, so there will be plenty of brainstorming materials on hand so we can scribble our new ideas and insights on napkins and tablecloths DRAFT - NOT FOR DISTRIBUTION
