The merchants story • The merchant acted like he had a lot of money when really he was poor. • High on his horse he sat, none knew he was in debt. • He was very dishonest, secretive, and mysterious. • He participates in the illegal practice of selling illegal coins.
How he speaks and acts • The merchant speaks in low tones. • In solemn tones. • He acted like he was refined and classy.
How he thinks • The merchant is always worried and stressed. • They would be in debt. • He always stresses to make his payments. • Sometimes they would get paid late.
How he dresses • He has a forking beard, a beaver hat, and fancy boots. • Line 280
The parsons story • He had many holy thoughts, he preached Christ's gospel • Truly knew Christ's gospel and would preach it.
How he speaks and acts • He doesn’t like to curse and was a patient man. • He hated cursing to extort a fee.
How he thinks • He thinks a lot about god and religion. • Holy minded man • He easily trust others and wasn’t prideful • For if a priest be foul in whom he trust, no wonder that a common man should rust
