  2. Podcasting Basics • Podcasts are audio files • ANY device that plays digital audio files will play a podcast- from iPods to Windows PC’s • Typical format for the files is MP3 • Often podcasts are “radio-like” programs- host with music, interviews, monologues, etc.

  6. Why Podcast? • Writing for a real purpose • You can listen and learn at your own leisure • You can reach a real audience and communicate globally

Students can… • listen to audio stories. • create songs, reader’s theater, radio drama, or play/skit scripts. • interview another student about a topic. • create commercials. • listen to directions for a class assignment. • create a study guide for tests. • create an oral presentation. • create a music video. • listen to podcasts to gain knowledge about topics, cultures, etc.

Teachers can… • create directions for an assignment. • create study guides or test review information. • create lectures/notes lesson plans for review or for absent students. • use podcasts as forms of assessment. • inform parents about what students are learning and how they are learning. • create announcements for parents about special events, assignments, etc.
