Global Impact of Imperialism • Exploitation of Africa Resources by Europeans. • Japan industrializes and builds military power • United States takes Guam, Puerto Rico and Philippines in Spanish American War. Hawaii is acquired as U.S. Territory. • United States takes Panama and Builds Panama canal. The canal allows greater economic trade to occur by reducing travel time.

  5. Global Impact of Imperialism • United States wants free trade with China called Open Door policy • American and European Cultures are imposed upon countries they possess.

  6. Perspective of the Colonized People • Conquered people sense anger and inferiority • Feel the loss of freedom and self-determination and life style • Dislike being used for labor to produce raw materials for other countries to take.
