What is it? • When someone temporarily loses their sense of personal identity • impulsively wander or travel away from their home or work. • They often become confused about who they are and might even create new identities. • People with this disorder show no signs of illness, such as a strange appearance or odd behavior.

  3. What causes this? • linked to severe stress, which might be the result of an experience or witness of a traumatic event. • Ex: war, abuse, accidents, disasters, or extreme violence • Use or abuse of drugs/alcohol

  4. Treatment • Point is to help the person come to terms with the stress or trauma that triggered the fugue • Psychotherapy • Cognitive therapy • Clinical hypnosis
