Welcome to the Galena High School Physics course! Under the guidance of Kathryn Bush, students will explore the fascinating world of science and its relationship with mathematics. This course aims to enhance curiosity about natural phenomena, develop scientific thinking, and encourage practical applications of physics in daily life. Each student will participate in lectures, hands-on activities, and labs, including computer simulations. A $5.00 lab fee per semester is required for materials. Course Description • Upon successful completion of Physics, students will: • develop curiosity and involvement with phenomena in their natural environment; • develop appreciation for the contribution of science to daily living; • understand and utilize the close relationship between Mathematics and Physics; and • deepen their scientific and mathematical thinking.

  5. Lab Fee • There is a lab fee of $5.00 per semester to pay for lab supplies. • Payment goes to the bookkeeper.

  6. Class Organization • This class is conducted using a combination of lecture, activities, and labs. Some of these will be computer simulations. • During class, students will be working both in groups and individually to complete assignments. • There will be a test or quiz at least once a week. • There will be independent assignments (homework).

Classroom Rules • Respect your time and the time of othersCome to class on time, prepared, and eager to learn • Use appropriate language when in class • Respect the furniture, equipment, and materials in the science classroom and laboratory • Gum, food and drinks are not allowed • Be Safe! • Respect ALL school rules

Progressive Discipline Plan • First Issue- warning- conference with student/reteach expectation • Second Issue- Conference with student, phone call home and after school/lunch detention • Third Issue- Conference with student and parent • Fourth Issue-Sent to dean of students or den/detention/tutoring **depending on the infraction and/or student behavior steps may be eliminated
