Chapter Questions & Vocabulary • When completing the reading assignment for each day, you are to complete a chapter questions & vocabulary assignment. • The assignment consists of questions based on the chapters and defining vocabulary terms from those chapters. • The assignment will ALWAYS be due the next day! • The assignment will be scored as a QUIZ.

VENN DIAGRAM ASSIGNMENT • Today, you will be given a blank Venn Diagram hand out. • You are to compare and contrast Paul Zindel to his book The Pigman, using the Venn Diagram. • The completed Venn Diagram will be due on Monday, April 6th. • It is will be graded as a TEST/PROJECT. • It should be neat, on time, & presentable.

Chapter Titles Assignment • You are to create chapter titles for any 4 of the 14 chapters. • For each one, you are to indicate your chapter title and the chapter to which it corresponds to. • For each one, you are also to write a brief paragraph explaining why you gave that particular chapter the title you created. • This will be due on April 6th. • The assignment should be neat, on time, & presentable. • This assignment will be scored as a TEST/PROJECT.

  8. READING SECTION: Think-Pair-Share Look at the cover of this book. What do you think the story is about? What kind of person might a “pigman” be? What can you tell about the two people on the cover? What do you know about the setting? Explain your answers!

  19. Insight into The Pigman • Some novels begin with a prologue, or short introduction. The Pigman, for example, begins with a prologue titles “The Oath.” The purpose of a prologue is to give background information about the story that follows. • After reading “The Oath,” what kind of story do you believe The Pigman will be? • When, where, and how will it be told?

  20. Insight into The Pigman The Pigman has 2 narrators, John & Lorraine. They are the main characters in the novel, as well as the “voices” that tell the story. John & Lorraine take turns explaining what happened, so that readers see events from John’s point of view in one chapter and Lorraine’s point of view in the next. Pay special attention to the comments that John & Lorraine make about each other. Like real-life best friends, they often have insights into each other’s personality.
