  6. BTVs @ ELENA BTV general specs • Need: • 1 BTV for beam injection measurement • 1 BTV for circulation beam measurement • Location between injection septum and kicker • Limited space for 2 systems (!) -> choice turned into a common vessel for the 2 devices • (See Roland’s section) • Default position of screen: • OUT for BTV on injection line • IN for BTV in circulating beam -> EIS system (means an action is needed to take the screen OUT) • Try to have a common design of screen insertion device despite the difference in functionality. Development based on a pneumatic magnetic coupling device • (See Nikoloz’ssection) BTV x ELENA IIC 2014_09_18 S.Burger, R.Sautier, N.Sharmazanashvili BE/BI

  7. BTVs @ ELENA Control and acquisition chain • VME based card • CTRL of the camera • CTRL of the lights • CTRL of the filter wheel (not foreseen for ELENA) • CTRL of the movement • Digitalization (400x300 pixels) • Interlock interface if needed • Camera • Analogue B/W to match the standard CERN BTV system • S/N > 50dB • Minimum illumination 0.0002lx (F1.4) • Rack / Crate • No need for new hardware since space available • for 2 BTV cards in cfv-193-btv2 • (AD extraction line + BASE) BTV x ELENA IIC 2014_09_18 S.Burger, R.Sautier, N.Sharmazanashvili BE/BI

  16. BTVs @ ELENA MPPL 100 – 100 – P (1) Connection structure of Drive thimble with pneumatic Rod • Device description: • Provides linear motion of the vacuum shaft. • Vacuum shaft and Drive Thimble are magnetically coupled. • Both the driver and the follower consist of arrays of equal numbers of permanent magnets with poles. • Removes the need for edge-welded bellows ‘stacks’, incorporated within traditional ‘push/pull’ designs - their elimination maximises vacuum integrity! • Unlike a bellows-sealed device, the MPPL is not subject to the thrust due to vacuum, resulting in smooth free-moving operation. Note : Connection structure of Drive Thimble also serves as a Anti – Rotation tool and assures linear movement of inner Vacuum Shaft ! BTV x ELENA IIC 2014_09_18 S.Burger, R.Sautier, N.Sharmazanashvili BE/BI
