  2. Christians should Obey I Peter 3:15! • I Peter 3:15: “But sanctify the Lord God in our hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear.”

I Peter 3:15 Analyzed: • “But Sanctify the Lord God” (consecrate). • “In your hearts” (God revered in the heart). • “Be ready always” (always prepared). • “To give an answer” (make a defense). • “To every man that asketh you a reason. • “Of the hope that is in you” cf. Tit. 1:2. • “With meekness.” • “And fear” (photos, “reverencing respect”).

I Believe – God Exists!Genesis 1:1; Psalm 14:1 • Affirmed by the Created Universe, Rom. 1:20; Psalm 19:1; Hebrews 3:4. • Things do not “just happen.” When an orange drops from a tree, we explain it by the “law of gravity.” Every cause must be sufficient to explain the effect. “Ants do not build skyscrapers, nor do pebbles dropped into the ocean start tidal waves!”

  5. The Universe ExhibitsDesign and Order • Eccl. 1:7. The order in nature was affirmed long before scientists learned about evaporation and rainfall. • Stars, planets, galaxies, etc. Perfect precision. • The earth is tilted on its axis at 23 degrees, which gives us our seasons, and provides for the “just right” conditions which make life on earth possible. Cf. Isaiah 45:18.

The Human BodyEvidences Design! • Ps. 139:14: “I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.” • Your heart probably beats 60-70 times per minute, your liver is detoxifying your blood, your brain is storing information, cells are being formed and destroyed, energy is being used, etc.

I BelieveJesus Christ is the Son of God! • Affirmed by: • God, Matthew 3:16-17; 17:5; John 5:37. • The Old Testament, John 5:39. • John the baptist, John 1:29,34. • His mighty works, John 5:36; 20:30-31. • His resurrection, Romans 1:4. • Fulfillment of prophecy, John 13:19. • Because Jesus is the Son of God, we must: • Deny self, take up cross, follow Him, Matt. 16:24. • Do all things by His authority, Colossians 3:17

I BelieveThe Bible is the Word of God! • Affirmed by Its Claims, 2 Pet. 1:21; 2 T. 3:16! • Affirmed by Its Historical Accuracy! • By it Scientific Accuracy! • Job 26:7, the empty place in the north. • Psalm 8:8, the “paths of the sea.” • Leviticus 17:10-11, Life is “in the blood.” • Acts 17:26, all nations are “of one blood.” • By Prophecy and Fulfillment, Isaiah 41:23. • Its Indestructibility, Matt. 24:34; I Pet. 1:25.

Because the Bible is the Word of God, Then: • Its precepts must be highly respected, Isaiah 55:8-9. • We must not: • Add to or take from the word, Rev. 22:18,19. • Make any alterations to it, Gal. 1:8-9. • Go beyond the doctrine of Christ, 2 John 9. • We must obey the word of God, Matthew 7:21.

I BelieveGod has a Plan for Saving Sinners! • It is the Gospel of Christ, Rom. 1:16 • “Gospel” Counteracts Bad News. • The Bad News Specified: • Rom. 3:23, “All have sinned…” • Isaiah 59:1-2, Sin separates man from God! • Rom. 6:23, “The wages of sin is death.” • The Gospel Must be Obeyed, 2. Thess. 1:7-9.

Obedience to the Gospel Involves: • Hearing the word of God, Rom. 10:17. • Believing the gospel, Mark 16:15-16. • Repentance, Luke 13:5; Acts 2:38. • Confession of faith, Matt. 10:32. • Baptism “for the remission of sins,” Acts 2:38. Through baptism: • One enters & puts on Christ, Gal. 3:27. • One enters the “one body,” I Cor. 12:13.

  12. God’s Plan for Saving Sinners included being Added to the Church • The church Jesus built, Matt. 16:18. • The church Jesus is the Savior of, Eph. 5:23. • The church Described in the Bible with reference to: • Its place of Origin, Isaiah, 2:2-3. • Its time of origin, Isaiah 2:2-3; Acts 2:1, 47. • Its Head, Colossians 1:18. • Its Creed, 2 Timothy 4:1; I Peter 4:11. • Its worship, John 4:23-24. • Organization, Phil. 1:1, and Work, Ephesians 4:12.

  13. Conclusion: • The Reason why God, in His infinite wisdom, provided a plan for saving sinners is because He loves sinners and wants them to be saved! John 3:16; 2 Peter 3:19. • But God does not save sinners apart from their cooperative response to His will, Revelation 22:17!
