Risks • Help people reach their goals while other prevent attaining them. • Give 1 example of a positive risk. • Give 1 example of a negative risk. • Risk: Hazard that accompanies a opportunity. • Reasons: Thrill, Gain Approval, Personal Beliefs, Save Time, Lack of Info., Make Money, Show off, Try Something New, Prove Yourself, Rebel DECIDE

Types of Consequences • Physical - harm to body • Legal – Against the Law (DUI, Breaking & Entering) • Emotional – Affects how the person feels about him/herself (depression, eating disorders, anger mgmt) • Social – Affects relationships w/ other • Academic – poor grades, attendance, etc. • Financial – results in expense

  7. Terms • Health Risk – Anything that results in disease, disability, death, and low quality of life. • Major Risk – Risk that affects many people in a negative way or premature death. List 3 Major Risks or 3 Health Risks for each Group • Teens • Elderly • General US Population • Pregnant Woman & Fetus Degree of Risk Activity
