  1. Three Men (2 Timothy 4:10-11) for Demas has forsaken me, having loved this present world, and has departed for Thessalonica--Crescens for Galatia, Titus for Dalmatia. Only Luke is with me. Get Mark and bring him with you, for he is useful to me for ministry. (NKJV)

  2. The Story of Demas • (Philemon 1:23-24) Epaphras, my fellow prisoner in Christ Jesus, greets you, as do Mark, Aristarchus, Demas, Luke, my fellow laborers. (NKJV) • (Colossians 4:14) Luke the beloved physician and Demas greet you. (NKJV) • (2 Timothy 4:10) For Demas, in love with this present world, has deserted me and gone to Thessalonica; Crescens has gone to Galatia, Titus to Dalmatia. (RSV)

  3. What Do You Love? • (1 John 2:15-17) Do not love the world or the things in the world. If any one loves the world, love for the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the pride of life, is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world passes away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides for ever. (RSV)

  4. Will We Follow In The Steps of Demas? • (2 Peter 2:20-22) For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world through the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overpowered, the last state has become worse for them than the first. For it would have been better for them never to have known the way of righteousness than after knowing it to turn back from the holy commandment delivered to them. It has happened to them according to the true proverb, The dog turns back to his own vomit, and the sow is washed only to wallow in the mire. (RSV)

  5. Will We Follow In The Steps of Demas? • (Hebrews 3:12-14) Take care, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart, leading you to fall away from the living God. But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called "today," that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. For we share in Christ, if only we hold our first confidence firm to the end, (RSV)

  6. Will We Follow In The Steps of Demas? • Don’t Be Distracted. • (Luke 8:13-14) And the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear the word, receive it with joy; but these have no root, they believe for a while and in time of temptation fall away. And as for what fell among the thorns, they are those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by the cares and riches and pleasures of life, and their fruit does not mature. (RSV)

  7. The Story of Luke • (Colossians 4:11) and Jesus who is called Justus. These are my only fellow workers for the kingdom of God who are of the circumcision; they have proved to be a comfort to me. (NKJV) • (Colossians 4:14) Luke the beloved physician and Demas greet you. (NKJV) • (2 Timothy 4:11) Only Luke is with me. Get Mark and bring him with you, for he is useful to me for ministry. (NKJV)

  8. Will We Follow In The Steps Of Luke? • (1 Corinthians 15:58) Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord. (NKJV) • (Hebrews 3:14) For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end, (NKJV)

  9. Will We Follow In The Steps Of Luke? • Will You Be A Constant Source Of Encouragement? • (Colossians 2:5) For though I am absent in the flesh, yet I am with you in spirit, rejoicing to see your good order and the steadfastness of your faith in Christ. (NKJV) • (Hebrews 10:23-24) Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, (NKJV)

  10. The Story of Mark • (Acts 12:25) And Barnabas and Saul returned from Jerusalem when they had fulfilled their ministry, and they also took with them John whose surname was Mark. (NKJV) • (Acts 13:5) And when they arrived in Salamis, they preached the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews. They also had John as their assistant. (NKJV) • (Acts 13:13) Now when Paul and his party set sail from Paphos, they came to Perga in Pamphylia; and John, departing from them, returned to Jerusalem. (NKJV)

  11. The Story of Mark • (Acts 15:37-41) Now Barnabas was determined to take with them John called Mark. But Paul insisted that they should not take with them the one who had departed from them in Pamphylia, and had not gone with them to the work. Then the contention became so sharp that they parted from one another. And so Barnabas took Mark and sailed to Cyprus; but Paul chose Silas and departed, being commended by the brethren to the grace of God. And he went through Syria and Cilicia, strengthening the churches. (NKJV)

  12. The Story of Mark • (2 Timothy 4:11) Only Luke is with me. Get Mark and bring him with you, for he is useful to me for ministry. (NKJV) • (Colossians 4:10-11) Aristarchus my fellow prisoner greets you, with Mark the cousin of Barnabas (about whom you received instructions: if he comes to you, welcome him), and Jesus who is called Justus. These are my only fellow workers for the kingdom of God who are of the circumcision; they have proved to be a comfort to me. (NKJV) • (Philemon 1:24) as do Mark, Aristarchus, Demas, Luke, my fellow laborers. (NKJV) • (1 Peter 5:13) She who is in Babylon, elect together with you, greets you; and so does Mark my son. (NKJV)

  13. Will We Follow In The Steps Of Mark? • Have we been lukewarm? • (Revelation 3:15-16) "I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. "So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth. (NKJV) • (Revelation 3:18-19) "I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. "As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent. (NKJV)

  14. Will We Follow In The Steps Of Mark? • (Hebrews 12:12-15) Therefore strengthen the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees, and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be dislocated, but rather be healed. Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord: looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled; (NKJV)

  15. Whose Steps Will You Follow? (2 Timothy 4:7-8) I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that Day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing. (RSV)
