  5. Don’t look like a victim.

  6. Be the hawk and not the mouse.

  7. Section 2: Work place safety and setting your work place for survival:

  8. If you have an office, how is it set up?

  9. Can you position yourself to see possible threats before they see you?

  10. How many sharp or heavy blunt objects are available to be USED on you?

  11. What exits are available to you in case of emergency?

  12. If you do not have an office, what is your work area and how is it set up?

  13. Who are your troubled patients or co-workers and where are they located most of the time?

  14. Section 3 Securing your work area during a lock down:

  15. Locks and doors by the lowest bidder.

  16. Does your office door open to the inside or outside?

  17. Options available at the local hardware on the “cheap.”

  18. Options that can be manufactured in the ag shop.

  19. Objects in your office that can be used to secure your office.

  20. Turn out the lights.

  21. Dim the blinds.

  22. Get out of sight.

  23. Be quiet.

  24. Wait for the troops /the all clear/or the opportunity to escape.

  25. If you go looking for trouble, chances are, “it will find you.”
