  3. About Us Smile Colombia Foundation (SCF) is a 501 (c)(3) private, non-profit, organization created with the main objective to aid Colombian children who live in conditions of extreme poverty. We focus on their education, because we believe education holds the key for successful individuals and communities.

  4. Importance of Education • Education is a basic human right • Educated people yield strong families • An educated community bring social prosperity • Education is the best investment for society

  5. Where We Help: Colombia • Located in NW part of South America • Complex history of violence • Violence creates social instability • Lack of access to education • Excessive poverty 64% of Colombian population live in poverty 31% live in extreme poverty Unicef Report 2010 USA COLOMBIA

  7. Key Services Provided by SCF • Provide school supplies • Scholarships • Educational training to children and family • Recreational activities • Basic medical/dental brigades

Key Achievements • Helped more than 1200 children in 8 different communities • Built a community park (soccer + volleyball + playground, etc…) • Awarded scholarships for English classes • Reached remote communities around Colombia • Supply many rural schools with teaching material • Inspired others to help children (South African non-profit)

  10. Bucaramanga 2010 • School supplies for 400 children • Recreational activities • Educational Seminars • Musical Instruments • Scholarships for English classes • We need to continue to support these children

Bucaramanga 2011 • School supplies for 165 children • 35 children foster children • 115 children from low income school • 15 childrenwith mental disability • Computer Lab (3 computers + 1 printer) • Recreational activities • Educational seminars • Continue 5 English Classes scholarships from previous project • Estimated cost = $6,000usd
