Direct Object Pronouns. A direct object tells who or what receives the action of the verb. Paso 1: Identify the direct object (el complemento directo ). You can do this by asking “who or what” is doing the verb. ¿ Quién ? o ¿ Qué ? I took out the trash  what did I take out?
