DU’s Vendor • NTI Group – ConnectEd • Opt-in Solution • Banner -> Daily Feed to NTI • 4,300 students, 770 staff, and 225 faculty have registered • Risk Management provides Policy / Usage / Rules • $40K annual, unlimited calls
“The 1st Test” – 3/8/2008 • Campus Safety did not know it was planned • Held during class (with Provost permission) • E-mails took 15 minutes - 15,600 of them • 5,700 text messages sent • No contention on DU PBX • No opt out as a result of test • Will continue complete test every 3 months
Student - Opt-In • Registrar send emails to undergrad and graduate students each quarter reminding them to sign up. • 1st email he sent prompted 2,000 students to enroll. • Mail merge type email, so it was more personalized.
Campus Safety • All Safety users and dispatchers have been trained. • Log into webpage, Individual logins • “Pre-scripted” messages for users • Dispatchers have to send a message in “training mode” as part of their daily responsibilities to ensure they know how to use the system should something occur.
Pioneer Card System “Lockdown” • Update in Blackboard version 9.4 - New Feature: "Door Command" • Setup user account for Campus Safety - Gave instructions • Can lock down all card reader doors with one script • Students can still enter during lockdown – It’s a catch 22…
