CPG - Phased Integration • Pre 9/11 -- Limited International Presence at CENTCOM • Post 9/11 -- Rapidly grown OEF Coalition • Winter 02-3 -- Introduce Combined Planning to CENTCOM Staff • Spring 03-Now -- Integrate Combined Planning into Staff CPG - From Concept to Operationalized Planning Capability June ‘02 July August September October November December January ‘03 Commander’s intent: Increase OEF Coalition staff integration CPG concept developed and approved CPG established (U.S. reps only) CDR letters to CHODs requests nominees Remaining non-US CPG members arrive First non-US CPG members arrive CENTCOM Coalition Integration Work Group Established Nominations received SNRs briefed on CPG concept CPG task loading, Interstaff coordination, team training Selection and notification process

CPG Mission The CPG, as a HQ USCENTCOM staff element, will directly advise the Combined Forces Commander with strategic assessments, operational, political-military & civil-military analyses in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM (OEF). Tasking will be directed by the JPG to ensure coherence of effort for planning and analysis tasks ranging from near to long-term, strategic to operational, military and humanitarian assistance. The creation of the CPG is a key step toward the evolution of further HQ USCENTCOM combined capabilities to take forward the Global War on Terrorism. JPG = Joint Planning Group
