  3. What is a rate? • Comparison of two quantities with different units • $60 for 2 books • Rate is $30/1 book • 13 pizzas for 104 people • 1 pizza / 8 people

  4. What is a unit rate? • A rate in which the denominator is 1 is a unit rate. • Travel 480 miles on 15 gallons of gas. Ask how many miles on 1 gallon of gas? Divide: 480 ÷ 15 = 32miles / gallon
