  1. Reflection in Ireland 2011 Karie Vrba

  2. On May 9th 2011 I embarked on an adventure of a lifetime. In just two short weeks we made a loop around the entire country of Ireland. Our first stop of the journey was at the Irish National Stud and Japanese Garden. We stayed the night in Waterford and then headed towards Cork. We stayed there for a few nights and hit up Mount Congreve, Old Midleton Distillery (Jameson Whiskey), Nangle and Niesen (a nursery), Blarney Castle, Garinish Island, and Dereen Gardens.

  3. The next leg of our journey took us to the Killarney area were we saw Muckross House and Gardens in Killarney National Park, toured The Ring of Kerry, survived The Cliffs of Moher, and explored The Burren. We then set our sights on Galway, we stopped by Brigit’s Garden, Connemara Pony Stud, Kylemore Abbey, Strokestown, and Clonmacnoise. We had a brief stop in Belfast where we saw The Giant’s Causeway, Carrick-a-Rede (giant ropebridge), and had a tour of Belfast. We ended our journey in Dublin where we saw Helen Dillon’s Garden, Knockmore Gardens, Glendalough monastery and of course Guinness.

  4. Even with all the rain and wind on the trip I still had a blast and managed to make a ton of new memories. I found out that for me it’s not really about the places that you visit it’s the experience that you take away from those places that really matters. When you travel you are bound to encounter new and strange things. All of these things are a great learning experience and you can really find out a lot about yourself and even the people surrounding you.

  5. During my time in Ireland I learned a lot, some of it very surprising and some even a little strange. Here follows a summary of all the amazing things that I learned during my time in Ireland…

  6. Not every castle is fit for a princess

  7. Sometimes it’s worth it to ignore the signs

  8. But sometimes they’re really helpful

  9. Going to the wrong place can turn out to be amazing, you can try something you’ve never had before

  10. Kangaroo!

  11. You can even bond with someone over the experience

  12. Karen

  13. It’s not worth taking the time to do your hair in the morning. There is so much wind that it won’t matter anyway

  14. They really do serve potatoes with EVERYTHING!

  15. Moss doesn’t JUST grow on the north side of a tree, it grows on every available surface

  16. Golf courses can be beautiful, even though they are full of turf.

  17. If you have a garden you also have a cute dog to attract people

  18. Stout beers are really quite tasty, and Guinness is not the only one

  19. Pubs often have free music, and they can play pretty much any song requested

  20. Life can be found in even the most rocky of places

  21. You can find friends that will last a lifetime

  22. Jerry

  23. When traveling all you have to do is keep an open mind and you’ll be amazed by the outcome!
