(Letter dated 16 June 1995 and signed by the First Presidency for all Church members, Ensign, September 1995, page 80) Validating information involves documenting and presenting the information used when submitting a name for ordinances. Submitting many names without research is not adhering to the counsel from the brethren. Please research and accurately identify ancestors before submitting names for temple ordinances. Be a Star!

Checking the CHANGE LOG on a person’s page, allows you to RESTORE data that was changed, And placing a WATCH on ancestors, alerts you by email that data has been changed, BUT …

  6. Adding Sources Greatly Lessens the Chance that Someone will Change your Data So How Do We Do Research and Add Sources? But Is Research a Swear Word? Shhh!

  7. Start at FamilySearch.org And Sign In

  8. Sign In, Click Name,Click Settings

  9. In Contact FieldMake Your Email Public WE LOVE YOU SO MUCH! That way relatives can work with you to make things better!

  10. Then Click on Family Tree to see Your Pedigree

  11. See You. Then Navigate to someone who needs Sources

  12. Click the Name of the Relative Who Needs Sources From Summary Card Click Person

  13. On Person Page, See Research Help Click SEARCH RECORDS

  14. What? No Hours Spent at Microfilm Readers?

  15. Nope, It’s Easy Peasy. Digitized Sources Show! Click on Name.

  16. See Indexed Record for Almira as mom of dead child Click Attach Also see Other Relatives, her Husband, Spouse Of Deceased HUG yourself for Indexing Records

  17. Confirm this is the Same Person Check Husband, Father, Mother, Etc. Give Good Reason for Attaching Click Attach

  18. Source Attached to Almira. Now Attach to Other Relativesher on Record Click Review

  19. Attach Source to All Family Members on Record - Husband Change Spouses here If more than one

  20. Give a Good Reason for Attaching to Person Click Attach

  21. Attach to Another Person on the Record – the Deceased Child

  22. Add Deceased’s Data to Family Tree from Source

  23. Add Data - Then Attach

  24. See Sources on Person Page! GOOD JOB!
