  2. Introducing letters Teaching children about letters that later turn into words is a challenge. It takes a lot of hard work in and out of the classroom. And with this simple lesson parents can help their children as well. Here are some suggestions: • When teaching a child about the alphabet be creative • Teach each letter in a fun and interactive way. • Make sure to focus on what the child likes • Use crafts and manipulatives • Find songs that relate to the ABC’S

Intro continued… • Also you can find web sites that provide worksheets or dittos to reinforce what the child is learning. • Teach child animal sounds to identify each letter • When introducing spelling to the child, teach letter by letter • Keep a journal for the child to practice his new letters and words. • Create games or activities that will help the child practice: flashcards, quizzes, poster boards.
