Team Foxhunt presents a project by WuffIT Corporation to address the dilemma of replacing specialists and recovering off-the-shelf hounds. The proposed solution includes housing for GPS units using shocker devices with a focus on waterproof, durable, and aesthetic design processes. The team conducted brainstorming sessions to meet customer needs, resulting in models created using 3D CAD software. Testing criteria were developed to ensure customer requirements were met, including waterproof testing and Finite Element Analysis for durability. The project aims to improve the prototype by exploring different machining methods and gasket materials to enhance the effectiveness of the shock collar case and GPS unit. Team Foxhunt A project by WuffITCoporation, LLC Brent Berg Blaine Hutchinson Ryan Pedersen Nathanael Skiver
The Proposal • The dilemma • Need to replace specialists • Recover wayward hounds • The solution • Housing for off-the-shelf GPS • Shocker device • Waterproof • Durable • Aesthetic
Design Process and Concepts • What is already out there? • Brainstorming to meet main customers needs • Waterproof • Durable • Solution • Waterproof – rubber gaskets • Durability- ABS plastic • Models created using 3D Computer Aided Design (CAD) software
Testing and Results • Develop testing criteria to ensure customer needs were met • Pass / fail criteria • Waterproof testing • Finite analysis for durability • Finite Element Analysis • Thickness should be at least 0.2 inches • Gives a Factor of Safety of 2 • Waterproofing test • Shock collar case passed • GPS did not
Next Steps • Improve box prototype • Different machining method • Machining ABS block • Edit the “sliced” STL file for 3D printing • Improve gasket • Different gasket material • Compressible rubber foam vs. hard rubber
