What is Ecstasy? • Ecstasy was originally know as MDMA • In the 1970’s, It was used as a party drug • Often contains hallucinogens • Can contain LSD, cocaine, heroin, amphetamine, methamphetamine, rat poison, caffeine, dog deworming substances and other substances • Never really know what you’re taking • Often called the “Love Drug” because it supposedly enhances the experience of sex

  3. What does it look like? • Ecstasy often looks like candy so it will look more attractive to young adults

  4. How is it used? • Most commonly ingested in pill form • Can also be ingested as liquid ecstasy by drinking/ injecting with a needle • Liquid ecstasy is GHB, a nervous system depressant found in drain cleaners

  5. What are the short term effects? • Impaired judgement • False sense of affection • Confusion • Depression • Sleep problems • Severe anxiety • Paranoia • Drug cravings • Muscle tension • Faintness and chills or swelling • Involuntary teeth clenching • Blurred vision • Nausea

  6. What are the long term effects? • Long-lasting brain damage affecting memory • Damage to portions of the brain that regulate critical functions such as learning, sleeping, and emotion • Degenerate nerve branches and nerve endings • Depression • Anxiety • Memory loss • Kidney failure • Hemorrhaging • Psychosis • Cardio vascular collapse • Convulsions • Death

  7. Who can be affected by it? • Anyone can be affected by ecstasy as it is very addictive.

  8. How do you get access to this drug? • You can get access to this drug by going to a drug dealer.

  9. Is this drug legal? • This drug is definitely not legal.
