  1. Corporate Giving Program Connecting those in need with those that wish to support our mission in helping others!

  2. Who is MSCF? • A nonprofit organization (501 (c) 3 status pending) designed with the company owner in mind! • Unique giving program that doesn’t ask for out-of-pocket donations • Corporate giving that benefits YOUR company’s bottom line • We manage the process for you, nothing for you to do

  3. How it all started… Founded in July 2012 Renee Strickland Trimble 1962 – 2012 Diagnosed with long term illness 1980’s Long term disability 2011 -2012 Hospice care Jan 2012 – March 2012 Kind, Caring, Giving…. 4. Laying Groundwork (2012) • Formation • Fundraising, program development, capacity building, etc… • Planning financial sustainability • Efficiency wherever possible to be able to maximize impact.   • Develop an efficient volunteer corps in order to minimize costs and build allegiances.   • Design a scalable program to promote giving • Leverage resources. • Develop collaborative partnerships with highly credible organizations that provide healthcare.  • Measure recipient satisfaction to guide process improvements and evaluate impact.  • Develop strong and lasting partnerships with corporations and other donors

  5. Fiscal Groundwork (2012) • Writing and Research and Planning • Documents • Branding • Filings (IRS) • Private donations • Legal • Accounting • Equipment

  6. Launching a Dream (2013) • Funding Goals • Identify organizations where funds are needed to purchase medical equipment and supplies for individuals. • Increase the geographical diversity of projects to serve a global community. • Evaluate fund requests and meet needs according to priorities and funding opportunities. • Respond to opportunities • Accept and award funds annually • Brand Awareness • MedSupply Charitable Fund does not conduct fundraising events, but instead choose to devote our attention to our Corporate Partnership Programs. We do, however, accept donations raised through events that benefit MedSupply Charitable Fund.

  7. Leaving a Legacy (2014 and beyond) • Annual (Perpetual) Giving – Donations to the organization on an annual basis • Development Major Donors – contribute at least one gift of $500 or more to the organization on an annual basis. • Corporate Sponsorships – Involvement on a personal level with employees and their companies • Grants – Apply to foundations and other institutions that offer start-up or capacity building funds. • Events – Corporate and individual fundraising events and drives • Other giving programs – Bequests, memorials, etc…

  8. Budgetary Commitment • Our commitment to you: • Keep operational costs within20% of the overall revenue. • Private donor support for upstart • Good stewardship of resources = mindful spending • Donate 80% of proceeds • Availability of funds means meeting critical needs for recipients • Sustainability means ongoing resources available to recipients

  9. How it works… • Employees participate in an FSA (Flexible Spending Account) plan at work and if they do not use all of the money at the end of the year, the funds are forfeited back to the company • The company must claim the funds as taxable income • The company makes a donation in the amount of the forfeiture and receives a tax deduction, offsetting the tax burden

  10. In other words… • Genuine concern for others with health disparities • Success through empowering other organizations and individuals • Take ownership of our actions and pride in our successes • Honesty and integrity given the highest priority in all interactions

  11. MSCF’s mission? Our mission is simple. We are devoted to addressing the health and well-being of underserved individuals. Medical equipment, supplies, consumables, and non-prescription medications

  12. Who benefits from MSCF? • Your leftover funds have a direct impact on the community! Making a difference through: • Local community • International community • Renee Strickland Memorial Fund for Hospice and Palliative Care • Company specific designation

  13. MedSupply Charitable Fund provides the common ground!

  14. Employer Benefits • Commitment to donating unused funds increases participation in employee funded supplemental healthcare plans • Increased employee participation = Decreased payroll • Decreased payroll means improved cash flow • Potential reduction in healthcare costs because employees have funds available for healthcare that are not out-of-pocket • Tax incentive vs tax liability

  15. Employee Pride • Promote a positive, philanthropic culture in the workplace • Build morale and foster team building • Give your employees a way to give back with digging deep • Employee participation in such programs deducts pre-tax dollars • Having access to these programs fosters a proactive commitment to better healthcare

  16. Why we do it…FACTS: • Not everyone has access to hospice and long-term care. • Have we made progress in caring for the dying? • $109/day is average cost in lost wages and benefits to care for a loved one with a chronic illness. • The aging of the population is expected to triple long-term care expenditures by 2040. • Many will face serious problems attaining needed health and long-term care services in the future.

  17. Management-free Philanthropy • MedSupply manages the process so you can manage your company Posters Handouts Newsletters Visibility and availability through open enrollment Market presence on MedSupply’s website Corporate involvement without multiple fund-raising drives and campaigns

  18. We know you have a choice… • Why choose MedSupply Charitable Fund? • All money donated as a result of forfeited employee funds, are dedicated to be used in exactly the same way they would have been used had the employee spent the money on their own families • Collaboration is everything. We all succeed by empowering other organizations and individuals without the means to provide basic medical supplies • Funding other organizations that are tightly aligned with your goals and mission is our purpose • YOU are the reason we exist! We are YOUR liaison between your employees and the underfunded community

  19. FAQ… • As an employer, can I allow my employees to designate where their individual leftover funds go? No, all leftover funds must be returned to the company. Only your company can decide whether to donate the leftover funds and then determine to whom they would like to make a charitable donation. • Has MedSupply Charitable Organization requested / received 501 (c)3 status ? The application for our 501(c)3 is currently pending . • Can I request my donated funds go directly to my employees, colleagues or others in need? Unfortunately, MSCF does not make donations to individuals. All funds are awarded to other charitable organizations in the health care industry. • Can my employees contribute if they elect not to participate in the FSA program through work? Yes, they can visit our website at http://www.medsupplycharitablefund.org • What other opportunities are available to get involved? MSCF is always looking for volunteers to get involved with this worthy cause. Just contact us at http://www.medsupplycharitablefund.org or by calling 855-FOR MSCF. • Can I encourage my employees to increase their FSA deductions to promote the giving campaign? Please contact your program administrator for direction regarding employee participant healhcare programs. OTHER QUESTIONS??
