If the technology went underutilized because of a lack of interest or awareness, Hospital X would risk losing considerable revenue. • 1. High charge to patient limits impact on community • ABUS is currently reimbursed at the same rate as a standard handheld ultrasound. The investment at Hospital X would not yield a positive NPV without charging an extremely high fee to the patients, due to the high margin per exam expected by their radiologists.
