Purpose and priorities of the initiative Primary objective: • To improve the sex ratio/ eliminate sex determination • To avoid female foeticide/infanticide • To avoid multiple sex selective abortion Secondary Objectives: • reduce chances of maternal death • To provide a secure environment for the girl child • To motivate the families on the pride of having a girl child • To Prevent Child marriage

Date of implementation of the initiative ( when, is it ongoing?) • Strategies adopted for bringing about the transformation and positive impact (Rigorous monitoring) • Early ANC registration with an aim of 100 percent coverage. • Audit of all 2nd trimester abortion • Audit of all male children born in a month

  6. contd • ANM and Anganwadi worker driven contact program against female foeticide/infanticide. • Attendance in monthly review meetings by Collector is mandatory for all VHS/ Anganwadi workers. • Creating a team of four health professional for Coordination with the Four Taluks and compiling and consolidating the data for presentation to Collector and elsewhere.

Measures taken to create a positive impact on the people • Convergence of other department schemes to dovetail with government’s programs targeted for girl child • Campaign against sex determination/ child marriage/ maternal death/ nutritional supplementation. • Generating awareness through Panchayati Raj institutions through regular meetings • Use of ICT material for explaining about program of the govt and impact f Child Sex ratio during the routine door o door visit of Anganwadi workers has also been incorporated as a routine part of their activity. • Other measures ( capacity building, coordinatioin with other district officers, SHG involvement)
