  33. All Clubs to appoint a Protection & Safety Officer All Clubs must ensure appropriate details of the appointment are recorded via the website i.e. Health & Safety And Protection Appointment & Recording Update Club and Member details – Deadline 22nd May 2009

  34. Risk Assessments • Health and Safety within Rotary is not an option  - it is an obligation • It is not the sole responsibility of any one person • Each Rotary Club most formally agree the Health & Safety Policy & this must be recorded annually in the minutes of the Club Council • Risk assessments should be carried out and recorded  before every Rotary event/ activity • Risk assessments should be short and to the point - dealing with risk issues Assembly 2009

  35. Insurance • Every Rotarian and volunteer working on a Rotary event/ activity has insurance cover which provides a safety net • Get out there and organise your events Assembly 2009

  36. Immediate Action !! • If someone is injured, Sutton Winson must be notified immediately • Do not admit liability at any stage • Do not acknowledge receipt of any correspondence • If notification of legal proceeding is received against you, you must notify Sutton Winson immediately

  37. Child & Vulnerable Adult Protection • Each Rotary Club must formally agree the Child and Vulnerable Adult Protection Policy & this must be recorded annually in the minutes of the Club Council • Copy of Policy is available on the RIBI website

  38. Checks • Everyone who has regular contact with children or vulnerable adults needs to be covered by the appropriate level of disclosure” or by the terms of the agency they are working: for example, a school • In Northern Ireland checks are now carried out by Access NI details available from http://www.accessni.gov.uk/ • In the Republic of Ireland there is a requirement for those working with children (under 18) to be Garda vetted
